Job summary

Laitram LLC in Harahan, LA, is seeking a Payroll Administrator to manage bi-weekly multi-state payroll for 2,000+ employees across the U.S. and Canada, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies.

You will partner with Finance, Tax, and external auditors in a collaborative, self-managed payroll team. The ideal candidate has strong payroll fundamentals, 5+ years of experience, and proficiency with timekeeping systems and payroll platforms such as ADP or Oracle Cloud.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Human Resources preferred; or a minimum of 5 years of directly transferable payroll experience.
• In-depth knowledge of end-to-end payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll tax compliance.
• Strong expertise in timekeeping systems including pay rules and accrual management, reporting, and resolving employee and manager inquiries.
• Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with payroll and timekeeping platforms; ADP and/or Oracle Cloud strongly preferred.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service-oriented mindset.
• Ability to adapt to changing regulations and evolving business needs.

Responsibilities

• Process all payroll transactions accurately and on schedule, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and deductions, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company policies
• Prepare and reconcile payroll-related General Ledger entries in partnership with Finance
• Research and resolve Federal, State, and local payroll tax issues, including SUI and wage and hour law compliance
• Maintain and audit employee data within payroll and HR systems, including compensation, job, and demographic information for new hires, terminations, and pay changes
• Provide timely, accurate records and documentation to support internal and external audits, compliance activities, year-end processes, and required reporting obligations
• Support expatriate tax reporting, cost-of-living adjustments, relocation expenses, and related compensation in collaboration with Tax
• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and implement payroll process improvements, automation opportunities, and best practices
• Provide exceptional customer service by responding to payroll and timekeeping inquiries from employees, managers, and internal stakeholders
