Scale AI, based in San Francisco, seeks an experienced US Payroll Specialist to guide end-to-end multi-state payroll for 1,000+ exempt and non-exempt employees. You will ensure accurate processing, timely delivery, and strict compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, including year-end W-2 handling and reconciliations.

The role requires collaboration with HR and Finance and acting as the Workday/ADP SME.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of payroll experience required.
• Deep knowledge of US labor laws, taxation, and payroll systems sought.
• Experience with ADP WorkforceNow and Workday preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full-cycle payroll processing for multi-state US employees.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and FLSA.
• Coordinate year-end processes (W-2/W-2c, benefits reporting).
• Collaborate with HR and Accounting for data integrity and GL mapping.
• Act as payroll system SME for Workday and ADP and lead system improvements.
• Audit payroll data and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
