Job summary

Stormont Vail HealthCare, Inc. is seeking a part-time phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and capillary collections in a hospital setting, including ED/Trauma, and other units. The role requires proper specimen handling, order entry in the EMR, and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities include training interns, assisting with testing, and traveling to client facilities as needed. This position supports patient care across age groups in a dynamic acute care environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; phlebotomy program preferred.
• Experience with phlebotomy in hospital settings is preferred.
• Venipuncture and capillary puncture experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and properly identify blood specimens by performing venipunctures and capillary punctures in all age groups.
• Access, select, release and print test orders from the electronic medical record system.
• Resolve unusual or duplicative orders and transcribe outside orders as needed.
• Process specimens according to established procedures and prepare for transport under IATA regulations.
• Perform waived point of care tests and maintain quality results.
• Instruct patients on proper collection procedures and address questions.
