Job summary

Stormont Vail Health is seeking a part-time phlebotomist for ambulatory clinic duties. Responsibilities include performing venipuncture and capillary puncture, obtaining proper patient identification, and managing orders in the electronic medical record system to support accurate testing in primary and specialty care environments.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and completion of a phlebotomy training program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program may substitute education.
• Experience with phlebotomy is required.
• Preferred experience in a lab or hospital setting, venipuncture/capillary puncture, EMR usage and patient privacy.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and identify blood specimens via venipuncture and capillary puncture across all ages.
• Access, select, release and print test orders from the electronic medical record system.
• Transcribe outside orders into the EMR as required and process specimens per procedures.
• Perform and document waived point-of-care tests and ensure quality results.
• Maintain supply stock and assist with teaching phlebotomy interns and trainees.
