Job summary

Carmel Partners in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Project Engineer to support planning and daily execution of our wood-frame residential construction projects. You will collaborate with the Project Manager to keep schedules, procurement, and submittals moving efficiently on the Long Beach Marina Shores project.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in construction management or related field and at least one year of commercial or residential construction experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 1+ years’ experience in commercial or residential construction preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software such as Smartsheet, Procore, and Bluebeam.
• Must be able to pass a drug screen after conditional offer.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager with planning and execution of the construction project(s).
• Support the project schedule as assigned by the Project Manager.
• Manage the procurement and submittal logs.
• Review submittals and shop drawings for conformance with the Contract Documents.
• Coordinate shop drawings, material interface, access, and routing with the Subcontractors and Design Team.
• Manage preparation of mock-ups for Owner approval.
• Support project quality control by inspecting work in progress and completed work.
• Assist Superintendent with site logistics planning.
• Assist Project Manager with developing scopes of work and bid package development.
• Manage drawing and document issuance including design updates and RFIs.
• Assist Project Manager with Change Management.
• Manage project closeout and preparation of closeout documents.
• Manage consultant, city, and internal punch list correction.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, Fair Housing, etc.
