Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join a growing professional services organization and ensure accurate, on-time payroll across multiple states. The role emphasizes ADP Workforce Now proficiency, multi-state compliance, and delivering exceptional service.

The ideal candidate has hands-on ADP Experience and a background in payroll for 500+ employees, preferably within AEC or related professional services. This position is based in Woodbury, NY with a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Hands‑on experience with ADP Workforce Now is required
• Strong knowledge of FLSA, payroll tax regulations, and wage compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Process and audit employee timesheets, including manual entry into ADP Workforce Now, ensuring compliance with policies and laws.
• Administer full-cycle payroll for multi-state operations, including weekly processing, reporting, reconciliations, and audits.
• Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, changes, and deductions.
• Review and process employee expense reports and reimbursements, including manual checks and ACH payments.
• Process PTO, benefit time, and time-off requests per policy.
• Assist with 401(k) plan administration, reporting, and recordkeeping.
• Assist with audits, including certified payroll or project-related reporting.
• Perform other payroll, accounting, and administrative duties as needed.
