Solucient is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our Accounting team in Michigan and Illinois payroll processing, benefits administration, and related accounting tasks. The role emphasizes accuracy, deadlines, confidentiality, and a customer-focused approach.

You will collaborate with HR and Accounting to onboard new hires, manage payroll changes, and ensure compliant, timely payroll and benefits processing.

Qualifications

• Prior payroll, benefits, accounting, or bookkeeping experience.
• Multi-state payroll experience preferred.
• Knowledge of payroll processing, deductions, taxes, and record-keeping.
• Experience with HRIS, ERP, or accounting software.
• Strong Excel and technology skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines with confidentiality.
• Adept at collaborating with HR and Accounting teams.

Responsibilities

• Process accurate and timely payroll for Michigan and Illinois employees.
• Review timekeeping, earnings, deductions, taxes, and other payroll transactions.
• Process new hires, terminations, compensation changes, deductions, and other employee changes.
• Maintain payroll, tax, direct deposit, and employee records.
• Reconcile payroll activity and benefit invoices.
• Coordinate employee benefit enrollments and annual open enrollment with HR.
• Support payroll tax reporting and quarter-end/year-end activities.
• Respond to payroll questions with professionalism and confidentiality.
• Ensure compliance with Michigan and Illinois payroll requirements.
