Job summary

Maxwell-Kates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Handyman for a full-time, on-site role at a non-union residential garden apartment complex in Brooklyn, NY. The ideal candidate will perform a wide range of repairs, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with outside contractors as necessary.

Responsibilities include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance tasks, with a focus on safety and efficiency. Prior multi-building experience is preferred; strong references required.

Qualifications

• Experience in residential building maintenance and repairs.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and work independently.
• Preferred experience in apartment buildings or multi-building properties.
• Physically capable of lifting, bending, climbing stairs, and working indoors/outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs and maintenance throughout the property.
• Troubleshoot and complete plumbing repairs.
• Handle basic electrical repairs and troubleshooting.
• Perform carpentry, patching, painting, hardware, door, lock, and fixture repairs.
• Address maintenance requests from residents and building management.
• Inspect and identify maintenance issues to prevent larger problems.
• Assist with preventative maintenance.
• Coordinate with licensed contractors when needed.
• Maintain tools and work areas safely and organized.
• Communicate professionally with residents and staff.
