Experienced Handyman – Residential Garden Apartment Complex

Maxwell-Kates, Inc. is seeking an experienced, dependable, and well-rounded Handyman for a full-time, on-site position at a non-union residential garden apartment complex in Brooklyn, NY.

The ideal candidate must have strong hands-on maintenance experience and be comfortable handling a wide range of day-to-day building repairs. We are looking for someone who can independently troubleshoot issues, determine what is needed, and complete repairs properly and efficiently.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform general repairs and maintenance throughout the property
• Troubleshoot and complete plumbing repairs
• Handle basic electrical repairs and troubleshooting
• Perform carpentry, patching, painting, hardware, door, lock, and fixture repairs
• Address maintenance requests from residents and building management
• Inspect and identify building maintenance issues before they become larger problems
• Assist with preventative maintenance throughout the property
• Determine when a repair requires a licensed outside contractor and coordinate accordingly
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner
• Communicate professionally with residents, building staff, management, and vendors

Qualifications:

• Strong, verifiable experience in residential building maintenance and repairs
• Must be skilled in multiple areas of building maintenance, including plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repairs
• Previous experience working in apartment buildings, residential complexes, or multi-building properties strongly preferred
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and work independently
• Must be dependable, professional, organized, and responsive
• Must have verifiable employment history and professional references
• Relevant trade licenses, certifications, or credentials are strongly preferred
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting, bending, climbing stairs, and working indoors and outdoors
