Job summary

Whataburger Restaurants is seeking a Field-based Restaurant Maintenance Technician to diagnose, repair, and restore HVAC, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, and building components across Austin-area locations.

You will manage 10 restaurants on average, handle on-call needs, travel locally, and coordinate with leaders and vendors to minimize downtime while upholding safety standards and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Fully capable to work full-time with on-call rotation and travel locally and long distances.
• 1+ year of field experience in HVAC and commercial refrigeration.
• 1+ year of experience repairing commercial kitchen equipment.
• EPA or CFC Certification.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, and commercial kitchen equipment systems.
• Basic carpentry, plumbing, and intermediate electrical repairs.
• Ability to communicate clearly with restaurant leaders, vendors, and the public.
• Valid driver's license with ability to meet MVR standards.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders and rooftops.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial kitchen equipment, HVAC, refrigeration, and beverage systems.
• Respond to service calls and emergency maintenance needs to restore functionality.
• Complete and document repairs according to work orders and SLAs.
• Total ownership of restaurant upkeep from curb to curb.
• Coordinate and supervise third-party vendors when needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized company vehicle, tools, and work area.
• Travel to partner with Operations and support multiple restaurants.
