Job summary

Whataburger Restaurants is seeking a Restaurant Maintenance Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC, refrigeration, and kitchen systems across multiple locations. You will handle service calls, document repairs, and coordinate with leadership to minimize downtime and protect assets.

The role requires travel, on-call availability, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while delivering high-quality workmanship and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Ability to travel locally and long distances for worksites.
• 1+ year of field experience in HVAC and commercial refrigeration.
• 1+ year of experience repairing commercial kitchen equipment or equivalent training.
• EPA or CFC Certification.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, and commercial kitchen equipment systems.
• Carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repair basics.
• Ability to meet SLA timelines and communicate clearly with leadership and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial kitchen equipment, HVAC, refrigeration, and beverage systems.
• Respond to service calls and emergency maintenance to restore functionality.
• Complete and document repairs per work order priorities and SLAs.
• Travel to multiple restaurants, support operations, and coordinate with vendors.
• Maintain clean, organized tools, vehicle, and work area.
• Support after-hours, on-call, or urgent repair situations as needed.
• Comply with safety policies and regulatory standards.
