Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Fleet Manager to lead maintenance operations across multiple locations, overseeing in-house shops, mobile mechanics, and third-party providers. You will organize shop workflow, parts management, and quality control while partnering with operations leadership to improve fleet reliability.

The role requires DOT regulations knowledge, supervisory experience, and the ability to manage several sites, schedule work, and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

Strong knowledge of DOT/state/local regulations and safety standards.
Experience with preventive maintenance control systems.
Ability to manage multiple sites and lead teams.
Excellent interpersonal skills to motivate staff.
Ability to plan, organize workflow, and meet deadlines.
Travel to various facilities required.

Responsibilities

Manage fleet mechanic staff across multiple locations, including hiring and scheduling.
Lead quality checks and audits for work completed.
Forecast goals and objectives for the department.
Maintain relationships with facility managers, area managers and group fleets managers.
Ensure DOT/state/local compliance and safety policies are followed.
Provide guidance on performance and tasks to meet deadlines.
Coordinate with Group Fleet Manager to keep skills up-to-date.
Manage preventive maintenance, recalls, and parts inventory.
Track repair orders, parts purchases, and service records.
Handle internal/external customer calls to service the fleet.
Review operations reports like maintenance, inventory, and telematics uptime.
