Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Lead Mechanic to maintain and overhaul fleet vehicles, lead shop operations, and ensure cost-efficient repair work. You will oversee a small team, apply preventative maintenance, and ensure DOT and Vestis standards are met.

Responsibilities include scheduling, training assessment, and cost control, with a focus on quality and compliance in a market center shop environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in fleet vehicle repairs, maintenance, wiring and scheduling.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED; VO-Tech or Associates preferred in Automotive Technology.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and state vehicle laws.

Responsibilities

• Maintain fleet vehicles with emphasis on Preventive Maintenance to meet 100% standards.
• Assist with scheduling and assigning work to mechanics and staff.
• Assess training needs for fleet mechanic staff to Regional or Group Manager.
• Utilize the AVMS fleet management system for shop operations and tracking.
• Manage cost control through purchasing, inventory management, and safety training.
• Maintain weekly cost data and report financial status of shop and controllable vehicle costs.
• Uphold Vestis and DOT standards; ensure shop cleanliness and workplace conduct.
• Perform other duties to support the business.
