Job summary

TGC Search in Bennington, VT is seeking a Senior Accountant or Assistant Controller for a private family office. Hybrid role with 2–3 days on site managing accounting across 24 entities and coordinating with outside CPAs and tax professionals.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of progressive accounting, hands-on close, multi-entity accounting, CPA preferred, and strong Excel skills. You will oversee month-end close and support tax planning and reporting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong GL and close expertise.
• Experience preparing closing entries and completing month-end reconciliations.
• Proven experience working with outside CPAs and tax professionals.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• QuickBooks Desktop is required.
• Strong Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systems.
• Experience managing accounting for multiple legal entities.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting and general ledger activities across approximately 24 legal entities.
• Prepare and post month-end closing entries and perform account reconciliations.
• Manage monthly and year-end close process for accuracy and completeness.
• Track and account for family-office assets, investments, and real estate holdings.
• Coordinate with outside CPAs, tax advisors, attorneys, vendors and other external professionals.
• Assist with tax-related accounting and reporting; tax experience highly beneficial.
• Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for entities, investments, and assets.
• Support Controller/ownership with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis.
