Job summary

Geisinger in Allentown, PA seeks a skilled MRI Technologist to perform neuro, body, and extremity imaging per radiologist protocols. You will position patients, explain procedures, and ensure safety standards are met.

Responsibilities include IV access for contrast, data entry into IDX/PACS, image processing, and quality control. Collaborative team support and ongoing education are expected.

Qualifications

• ARRT, NMTCB or ARMRIT certification required at hire.
• New graduates must obtain ARRT-R, ARRT-MR, NMTCB or ARMRIT prior to first day.
• Applicants hired after March 10, 2024 must complete steps required for advancing to level 2 within 24 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform MRI procedures including neuro, body, and extremity following radiologist guidelines.
• Prepare and position patients; explain exams and answer questions.
• Protect patients and personnel in accordance with MRI safety standards.
• Perform venous access for IV contrast as directed by radiologist.
• Enter data into IDX Imaging Suite and PACS; manage imaging data.

Job description

• Knowledge of the Magnetic Resonance imaging process and safety in the Magnetic Resonance environment.
• Provides protection to patients and personnel in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
• Prepares and positions patients for Magnetic Resonance procedure; thoroughly explains exam and answers patients' questions.
• Performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures including neuro, body, and extremity, following protocols set by a Radiologist.
• Performs venous access on all patients requiring IV contrast administration as directed by a Radiologist.
• Enters necessary data into Radiology Imaging System, IDX Imaging Suite, and Picture Archive Communication System Image Management Systems.
• Processes images as necessary.
• Ability to identify anatomy on images.
• Performs quality control tests of equipment; reports any irregularities.
• Notifies Team Leader and appropriate maintenance personnel of equipment malfunctions.
• Shares the responsibilities for ordering supplies; notifies appropriate personnel of supply levels.
• Acts as a Radiology liaison; provides radiological support to physicians as requested; refers problems to Team Leader.
• Imaging exams and procedure tray set up require access and handling of non-controlled medications.
