Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a radiologic technologist specialized in Magnetic Resonance Imaging to perform neuro, body, and extremity MRI studies. You will prepare patients, administer IV contrast under radiologist direction, and ensure accurate data entry into imaging systems.

Responsibilities include quality control, image processing, and equipment issue reporting. ARRT/NMTCB/ARMRIT certifications are required or pursuing registry as outlined by Geisinger guidelines.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the Magnetic Resonance imaging process and safety in the MRI environment.
• Ability to prepare and position patients for MRI procedures and explain exams to patients.

Responsibilities

• Performs MRI procedures including neuro, body, and extremity according to radiologist protocols.
• Performs venous access for IV contrast as directed by a Radiologist.
• Enters data into Radiology Imaging System, IDX Imaging Suite, and PACS Image Management Systems.
• Processes images and performs quality control tests; reports irregularities.
• Notifies Team Leader of equipment malfunctions and coordinates with maintenance.

Job description

• Knowledge of the Magnetic Resonance imaging process and safety in the Magnetic Resonance environment.
• Provides protection to patients and personnel in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
• Prepares and positions patients for Magnetic Resonance procedure; thoroughly explains exam and answers patients' questions.
• Performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures including neuro, body, and extremity, following protocols set by a Radiologist.
• Performs venous access on all patients requiring IV contrast administration as directed by a Radiologist.
• Enters necessary data into Radiology Imaging System, IDX Imaging Suite, and Picture Archive Communication System Image Management Systems.
• Processes images as necessary.
• Ability to identify anatomy on images.
• Performs quality control tests of equipment; reports any irregularities.
• Notifies Team Leader and appropriate maintenance personnel of equipment malfunctions.
• Shares the responsibilities for ordering supplies; notifies appropriate personnel of supply levels.
• Acts as a Radiology liaison; provides radiological support to physicians as requested; refers problems to Team Leader.
• Imaging exams and procedure tray set up require access and handling of non-controlled medications.

New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registryor primary ARRT-MRor NMTCBor ARMRITprior to first day of employment.

Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2, including advanced certification, within 24 months.
