Job summary

Atlantic Health is seeking an MRI Technologist to create cross-sectional images for diagnostic purposes using MRI equipment. You will position patients, select coils, and follow radiologist protocols to acquire high-quality images.

Responsibilities include operating the MRI console, entering patient history and scan details, communicating with patients via microphone, monitoring safety, and ensuring image quality while alerting staff to magnet-related hazards. Perform related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Positions patient on examining table and places specified coil near area of interest, following protocols requested by Radiologist.
• Demonstrates use of microphone that allows patient and technologist to communicate during examination.
• Enters data such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry into aperture of MRI equipment into computer.
• Keys commands to specify scan sequences and adjust transmitters and receivers into computer.
• Observes patient through control room and CCTV to monitor safety and comfort.
• Views images of areas being scanned on video display to ensure quality of pictures.
• Keys in data on keyboard of camera to photograph images.
• Alerts staff entering magnet room to the danger of wearing or carrying metal around magnet.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
