Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced MRI Technologist to support imaging services across procedures from basic to advanced. The role includes training staff and students, ensuring exam accuracy, and maintaining high standards of safety and patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The ideal candidate will hold ARRT MRI and RT registrations, BLS certification, and possess a solid background in cross-sectional anatomy, image quality, and departmental accreditation readiness.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and magnetic safety.
• Proficient in intravenous (IV) and venipuncture.
• Advanced knowledge of accreditation policies and procedures to assist in facilitation of departmental accreditation.
• Ability to act as a role model and to hold staff accountable to service commitments.
• Demonstrated leadership skills such as delegation, team building, prioritization and problem solving.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills with physicians and staff.
• Ability to work independently and maintain up-to-date computer skills.
• Certification Addendum and annual educational requirements for hospital certifications.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a resource to employees and students, providing day-to-day direction and performance input.
• Assists with interviewing and new staff selection and staff development.
• Interprets department policies and advises staff on changes; identifies performance improvements and manages resources.
• Serves as a clinical resource and preceptor across departments, facilitating problem solving.
• Operates MRI equipment to perform basic to advanced diagnostic procedures including angiography, thoracic, abdominal, venous, cardiac, and breast MRI.
• Obtains medical history, verifies requisitions, administers contrast media under Radiologist direction, positions patients and ensures image quality.
• Post-processes images, labels patient and study information, and documents billing codes for charges.
• Monitors equipment performance and conducts quality assurance and calibration; reports issues and evaluates new products.
• Performs patient positioning and transporting duties, with safe lifting and transfer techniques.
