Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking an MRI Technologist to support diagnostic imaging services. You will perform MRI procedures, ensure patient safety, obtain informed consent, and collaborate with radiologists to verify orders and document findings.

The role requires ARRT MRI certification or ARMRIT, proficiency with MRI safety, and strong patient communication. You will manage patient prep, maintain equipment, and follow radiation safety guidelines while delivering high-quality images

Qualifications

• ARRT MRI certification or ARMRIT certification is required.
• Graduate from ARRT-recognized radiologic or nuclear medicine program.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient. Refers and questions orders to the Radiologist before performing exam.
• Identifies and assists patients while offering a brief explanation of procedures; prepares patients for the procedure and documents on worksheets.
• Interviews patients for medical history; reviews EMRs to obtain pertinent history; records on requisitions; correlates results.
• Maintains responsibility for the exam from start to completion of dictated results.
• Prepares and administers IV contrast per protocol; records contrast type and amount on request.
• Evaluates image quality and consults Radiologist; processes additional images and measurements as instructed.
• Performs basic patient care, notifies nursing of changes, and assists in code blue during emergencies.
• Performs MRI scanning and assists during invasive procedures; maintains sterile technique and infection control.
• Obtains medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner.
• Practices radiation safety standards for staff and patients; reports equipment malfunctions.
• Maintains MRI safety knowledge for staff and patients around magnetic fields.
• Follows hospital fire and safety policies and completes safety modules.
• Operates radiology computer system to enter orders and charge procedures/supplies; documents contrast administration in MAR.
