Job summary

ABB is seeking a Lab Technician to lead hands-on product testing in our R&D lab onsite. You will set up, run, and document electrical and mechanical tests on motors and related equipment, ensuring conformance to standards such as CSA, UL, DNV and others.

The role requires maintaining lab systems and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. You will work with dynamometers, VFDs, and measurement systems, performing wiring, installation, programming, and routine calibration while updating

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 4+ years of experience OR an Associate’s degree with 6+ years in a hands‑on lab or electrical role.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical and mechanical testing of motors and related products per test plans and regulatory requirements.
• Set up, configure, operate and maintain lab test equipment including motors dynamometers (2 Hp to 2500 Hp), VFDs, and sound/vibration systems.
• Conduct wiring, installation, programming, disassembly and reassembly of electric motors; maintain lab assets and update procedures.
• Ensure safety, health and environmental compliance; maintain operator certifications (forklift, hoist, crane, scissor lift) for safe operations.
