Mainstream Engineering Corporation in Florida seeks a Motor Controls Engineer to lead simulation, software design, prototyping and validation of advanced motor control systems for thermal applications.

You will translate models into embedded C/C++ code, develop controls for speed, torque and position, and work with hardware and power electronics teams to optimize performance. US citizenship required by ITAR.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering; GPA 3.3+ preferred
• 3+ years simulating motor/power electronics controls and developing embedded software
• Strong proficiency in embedded C/C++
• Understanding of electric machine designs (PMSM, BLDC, IM) and commutation strategies
• Familiarity with MCU switching devices, gate drivers, sensing, and ADC synchronization
• Proficiency with hardware debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, dynamometers)

Responsibilities

• Modeling and validation of high-fidelity motor/inverter models (PLECS/MATLAB/Simulink)
• Design and tune control loops (speed, torque, position)
• Develop sensorless or sensored estimators
• Translate simulations to embedded software (C/C++)
• Develop clear software requirements and maintain traceability
• Assist hardware bring-up, debug, and hardware/software integration
• Collaborate with design teams to optimize motor drive hardware and thermal performance
