Mortgage Loan Originator - External Sales (Finance)
DuPont Community Credit Union (DCCU) is currently seeking experienced candidates for the role of Remote Mortgage Advisor – External Sales, focusing on Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. If you are passionate about helping others achieve homeownership, this may be the perfect role for you!
What You'll Have the Opportunity to Do:
- Generate mortgage business by building partnerships within DCCU's service area (Virginia).
- Increase quality mortgage leads and applications through strategic efforts.
- Conduct loan interviews, answer inquiries, and process requests via phone, mail, internet, email, and in person.
- Provide financial counseling related to credit union products such as debt consolidation, home equity, construction, and fixed or ARM loans.
- Complete loan applications, gather documentation, select appropriate mortgage products, lock loans, and submit for underwriting.
- Prepare mortgage disclosures in compliance with guidelines, ensuring all signatures or online consents are obtained.
- Organize and assist with planning workshops and seminars.
- Attend local real estate and networking events, including mortgage closings.
- Recognize cross-selling opportunities and implement sales and service techniques to meet member needs.
- Maintain knowledge of portfolio, secondary market, and government products.
- Participate in compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, and Privacy.
- Assist with other initiatives as directed by the Mortgage Sales Manager.
What You'll Bring to the Table:
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of real estate lending experience.
- Ability to self-source leads.
- If qualified, eligibility to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for the mortgage industry and serving others.
- Courteous and friendly member relations skills.
- Basic math skills (percentages, fractions, etc.).
- Professionalism and good clerical/computer skills, with knowledge of Word and Excel; familiarity with Encompass and Desktop Underwriter is a plus.
- Fluency in both Spanish and English is preferred.
