Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in cafeteria food service as determined by the Board.
• Knowledge of food management, nutrition, sanitation, and applicable federal/state law.
• Ability to supervise others and plan work schedules.
• Ability to perform simple bookkeeping and inventory procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Kitchen and Food Operations: Prepare daily school meals on time according to menu and standards.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness in kitchen and cafeteria.
• Prepare food according to planned menu and uniform recipes; ensure quality.
• Consult with school nurse regarding dietary needs and allergies.
• Store food properly; maintain required temperatures for frozen/refrigerated items.
• Determine quantities and serving sizes to meet age requirements.
• Use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Assist in serving food.
• Clean kitchen equipment, dishes, utensils, and tables.
• Cooperate with principals and custodians on healthful conditions.
• Oversee inventory control and daily usage records.
• Ensure security of food and supplies.
• Report problems to building principal promptly.
• Maintain good relations with staff and customers.
