Job summary

Vallivue School District is seeking a part-time Nutrition Services Supervisor to coordinate the school kitchen and cafeteria operations. The role focuses on preparing nutritious meals, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines, maintaining cleanliness, and supervising staff to deliver high-quality service.

Responsibilities include menu-based food production, inventory control, and collaboration with campus nurses on dietary needs, while upholding safety standards and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in cafeteria food service as determined by the Board.
• Experience with budgeting preferred.
• Knowledge of nutrition, sanitation, and applicable laws and Board policy.
• Knowledge of methods for large-quantity food prep and recipe scaling.
• Ability to plan work and supervise others.
• Able to perform simple bookkeeping and inventory procedures.
• Ability to stand/walk long hours and lift heavy items.
• Understanding of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Ability to communicate clearly with staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Prepare daily meals on time according to a planned menu and standards set by state and federal agencies.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness in the kitchen and cafeteria.
• Prepare food using tested recipes and ensure high quality in flavor and appearance.
• Consult with the school nurse on dietary needs and allergies.
• Store food items properly and maintain temperatures.
• Determine quantities and serving sizes to meet age requirements.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Assist in serving food and cleaning duties.
• Cooperate with principals and custodians to maintain healthful conditions.
• Prepare reports as directed by the supervisor.
