Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a Molecular Diagnostics Technologist to independently apply clinical laboratory techniques and perform advanced molecular tests, including PCR, RT-PCR, sequencing, and NGS. Qualifications

• Proficiency in molecular diagnostic assays (PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, NGS) in compliance with CLIA and CAP standards.
• Knowledge of nucleic acid extraction and general laboratory techniques.
• Experience with LIS, QA/QC documentation, and regulatory compliance.
• CAP/CLIA/HIPAA knowledge.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to train others.

Responsibilities

• Perform molecular diagnostic tests including PCR, RT-PCR, real-time PCR, sequencing, and NGS.
• Isolate DNA/RNA/TNA from various specimens and control cell lines.
• Conduct Molecular Microbiology pathogen panels on high-throughput instrumentation with QC/QA documentation.
• Review test results, document findings, and generate reports.
• Maintain instrument calibration, cleaning, and preventive maintenance.
• Accession samples and manage inventory and vendors.
• Provide training to MLS students and residents.
• Support inspections by regulatory bodies and prepare SOPs.
