Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a skilled medical laboratory professional to join the molecular diagnostics lab, where you’ll work with advanced platforms including next generation sequencing (NGS) and collaborate with physicians, pathologists, and researchers to deliver precise diagnostic results.

The role emphasizes innovation, complex problem solving, and professional development in a highly specialized environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory or a related field with a 12-month internship in a Medical Technology program approved by NAACLS/ASCP or AMT MT.
• Certification from ASCP or AMT must be obtained within 15 months from date of hire.
• BLS certification may be required within 30 days from hire depending on duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform and report results of routine and complex laboratory procedures on body tissues, fluids and other substances.
• Assist supervisor and team lead with evaluating new instruments/methods, reagent preparation, QC and troubleshooting.
• Assist with apheresis procedures, bone marrows, coordinating educational sessions and QA activities as needed.
