Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Research Scientist to advance biomaterials, protein engineering, and biomanufacturing through molecular biology and biochemistry in a multidisciplinary AFRL-affiliated program.

The role involves designing cloning strategies, expressing and purifying proteins, and collaborating across biology, chemistry, and computation to deliver publishable results in a regulatory context.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. degree or MS with 2+ years in molecular biology, microbiology, or biochemistry.
• US Citizenship is required due to government facility access.
• Experience with aseptic culture techniques in a BSL-2 setting.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute molecular biology protocols including plasmid construction, cloning, recombinant expression, CRISPR editing, and DNA/RNA extraction.
• Engineer proteins to optimize functions for biomanufacturing and biomaterials applications.
• Perform upstream expression and downstream purification of recombinant proteins.
