Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Biochemistry Laboratory Technician in Michigan to support the Biological Materials and Processing Research Team.

You will independently execute established lab procedures, including protein expression and purification from microbial hosts, and perform biochemical assays to evaluate results. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with scientists while maintaining lab safety and data management.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field OR 2–5 years of related laboratory experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in molecular biology, biochemical, or related lab processes and procedures.
• Ability to independently execute established lab procedures with limited supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn and apply new lab systems, equipment, and procedures.
• Ability to troubleshoot less-routine lab issues using established procedures and prior experience.
• Strong time management skills.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and unit conversions.

Responsibilities

• Independently execute protein expression and purification workflows from microbial hosts using established protocols.
• Perform and document biochemical assays using established methodologies and troubleshoot deviations.
• General laboratory support/housekeeping.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment; escalate complex issues as needed.
• Follow employee health and safety requirements.
• Document laboratory activities and data storage.
• Execute a range of lab assignments, including less-routine work, using established processes.
• Coordinate lab activities and communicate results and dependencies to support project objectives.
• Serve as an informal technical resource to colleagues and escalate complex issues to the technical lead.
