Job summary
AeroVironment is seeking a Scientist or Engineer to advance protein and strain engineering initiatives within its Biomaterials Branch. You will conduct basic and applied research to discover, optimize, and scale enzymes for varied environments, collaborating with computational and experimental scientists to engineer biomolecules for biomanufacturing.
The role emphasizes genetic tool development, metabolic pathway design, and high-throughput screening in a cross-functional lab setting, with ITAR
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required due to government facility access.
- PhD with 1–2 years of experience; MS with 4+ years considered.
- Experience in protein engineering and high-throughput screening.
Responsibilities
- Enzyme prospecting, optimization, and stability tuning.
- Genetic tool development including plasmid construction and CRISPR editing.
- Design and execution of high-throughput screening to profile host and enzyme performance.
- Designing metabolic pathways to biosynthesize precursors and materials.
- Collaborate with computational and experimental teams to translate discoveries.
