Job summary

DOCS Dermatology Group is seeking a Mohs Medical/Surgical Assistant to aid physicians in surgical and medical settings, delivering safe, compassionate care. Responsibilities include preparing patients, assisting during Mohs procedures, and maintaining accurate EHR documentation.

The role supports a dermatology practice with a focus on patient experience, safety, and efficiency, and requires at least 1 year in a medical setting. Evening shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• One (1)+ year experience in a medical setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiarity with sterile technique and anatomy.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a patient advocate during patient exam, surgery and treatment.
• Review medical history and confirm purpose of visit.
• Escort patient to exam or surgical room.
• Review and obtain surgical informed consent prior to procedure.
• Take appropriate photographs.
• Record patients' medical history, medications, allergies, vital signs in EHR.
• Prepare sterile surgical tray and setup.
• Prepare patient for Mohs surgery and numb area with local anesthetics.
• Collect specimens and prepare for testing.
• Assist physician during surgical procedures as directed.
• Provide post wound care instructions to patient.
• Enter prescription information into EHR and communicate to pharmacies.
• Scribe surgical and office visits.
• Sterilize instruments and operate autoclave.
• Prepare treatment rooms for examinations.
• Dispose of infection waste.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate care.
• Change wound dressings.
• Handle triage calls and document.
• Notify patient of results.
• Inventory instruments and supplies.
• Document procedures accurately.
• Respond to emergencies following nursing standards.
• Perform MA duties for non-Mohs patients.
• Adhere to policies and uphold high-quality care.
• Late evenings may be required.
