Forefront Dermatology is seeking a Mohs Surgery Medical Assistant to support the Mohs surgeon during procedures, maintain a sterile environment, and provide post-operative care instructions. The role involves patient preparation, procedural support, wound care, and meticulous documentation in the EMR.

Responsibilities include room preparation, assisting during all surgical stages, tissue handling for pathology, and liaison for pathology results. Travel to other clinic locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years of dermatology or surgical experience preferred.
• CMA, RMA, LVN or LPN certifications preferred.
• Experience with EMR systems preferred; knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical assisting.

Responsabilités

• Prepare exam and procedure rooms for Mohs surgery, ensuring proper setup and efficient clinic flow.
• Assist the Mohs surgeon during all stages of the procedure, including pre-operative care, tissue preparation, hemostasis and wound closure.
• Perform patient intake, medical history review, consent forms, surgical photos, and pre-procedure concerns.
• Provide wound care instructions and educate patients on post-procedure expectations.
• Process and handle tissue specimens for pathology evaluation per protocol.
• Document procedures, medications, and follow-up in the EMR.
• Schedule pre- and post-operative appointments and assist patient inquiries.
• Confirm insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations when required.
• Complete patient charting accurately; manage pathology logs and communicate results between physician and patient.
• Maintain compliance logs (pathology, biopsy, lab, temperature) and follow OSHA/HIPAA infection control standards.
• May cross-train in Mohs laboratory or general/cosmetic dermatology as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
