Job summary

DOCS Dermatology Group is seeking a Mohs Medical/Surgical Assistant to support physicians in both surgical and medical dermatology settings. You will provide safe, compassionate patient care, review histories, assist in Mohs procedures, document in the EHR, and educate patients on post-operative care.

This role requires collaboration with the surgical team, adherence to HIPAA, and may include late shifts to support patient care.

Qualifications

• One year+ experience in a medical setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, anatomy, and medications.
• Understanding of HIPAA guidelines.
• Detail oriented and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a patient advocate during exams, surgery and treatment.
• Review medical history and confirm purpose of visit.
• Escort patient to exam or surgical room.
• Review and obtain surgical informed consent.
• Take appropriate photographs as required.
• Record medical history, medications, allergies, vitals and tests in EHR.
• Prepare sterile surgical tray and room for Mohs procedures.
• Assist physician during surgical procedures.
• Provide post-operative wound care instructions.
• Enter prescriptions into the EHR and communicate with pharmacies.
• Scribe surgical and office visits.
• Sterilize instruments and operate autoclave.
• Ensure treatment rooms are clean and organized.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate care.
• Dispose of biohazard materials safely.
