Job summary

Docs Dermatology Group seeks a Mohs Medical/Surgical Assistant to support physicians in surgical and medical dermatology settings. You will provide safe, knowledgeable, compassionate patient care and assist during Mohs procedures.

Responsibilities include patient advocacy, room preparation, consent, documentation in the EHR, photography, wound care instruction, and careful coordination of care. Some travel may be required; a comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• One (1)+ year experience in a medical setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, anatomy, and medications.
• Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable.
• Management and organizational skills to support leadership.
• Ability to follow verbal & written instructions with good grammar and spelling.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Ability to support a collaborative work culture.
• Understanding of HIPAA guidelines.
• Some offices may require travel.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a patient advocate during exams, surgery and treatment.
• Escort patient to exam or surgical room.
• Review and obtain informed consent prior to procedures.
• Take appropriate photographs.
• Record medical history, medications, allergies, vital signs in EHR.
• Prepare sterile surgical tray and instrument setup.
• Assist during Mohs surgery and prepare area and instruments.
• Document procedures and results in the EHR.
• Provide post-op wound care instructions to patients.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate additional care.
• Educate patients on post-care and wound management.
• Dispose of waste and maintain safety precautions.
• Scribe surgical and office visits.
