Job summary

TridentCare is seeking a phlebotomist to travel to client facilities, primarily nursing homes, to collect blood samples following standard procedures. You must identify patients, label specimens correctly, and ensure requisitions accompany transport while adhering to PHI policies.

Qualifications

• Must have current clinical licensure, if required by State.
• Must possess knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to laboratory purposes.
• Proficient in phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture and tourniquet use.
• Knowledge of specimen preservation and patient preparation.

Responsibilities

• Drive personal vehicle to client facilities (mostly nursing homes) as directed by dispatcher or supervisor.
• Obtain blood samples following established phlebotomy procedures.
• Identify patients according to policy prior to drawing blood.
• Label specimens correctly and ensure completed requisitions accompany transport.
• Follow PHI transportation policies and plan draw schedules with patient priority in mind.
• Maintain logs, time sheets, and other required records accurately.
• Collaborate with dispatch, payroll, laboratory, and courier departments.
• Keep equipment in good working order and report issues promptly.
• Be available on duty, respond to mobile devices, and coordinate future assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.
