Job summary

Sledge is seeking a Mobile & Multi-Platform Engineer to build for iOS, Android, tablet, and desktop. The role sits within the mobile team, with Wear OS and watchOS on the roadmap, and uses TypeScript/Next.js/Express with a React Native focus.

You will ship features weekly, craft for offline use on construction jobsites, and coordinate with design and QA to ensure durable field-ready experiences across platforms.

Built for subcontractors and small to mid-size general contractors, Sledge is already live with a growing group of beta users. Contractors run their business from the jobsite, not a desk, and Sledge's mobile app needs to work exactly like they do.

About the role

Sledge is hiring a Mobile & Multi-Platform Engineer to build Sledge everywhere a contractor might use it: phone, tablet, desktop, and eventually the wrist and beyond. This role works within Sledge's mobile team and reports into engineering. iOS and Android are the core of the job. Tablet and desktop apps are close behind. WatchOS, Wear OS, and emerging platforms like smart glasses are where Sledge wants to go next. Sledge wants someone who can build for any device type, not just the ones already on this list, since the next one is probably still a few years out.Sledge's other work runs on TypeScript, Next.js, Express, and Supabase/PostgreSQL, so mobile work that shares patterns and code with the rest of the stack, like React Native, is a real plus.

What you'll do

• Build and ship new features across iOS and Android, end to end
• Build tablet-optimized layouts and experiences, not just a stretched phone screen
• Build and maintain a desktop companion app as Sledge expands beyond mobile
• Prototype and build for watchOS, Wear OS, and other wearables as Sledge's wearable strategy takes shape
• Explore emerging platforms like smart glasses, such as Meta's, as they become viable for a product like Sledge
• Work closely with the mobile team and the rest of engineering to keep every platform in sync
• Build UI that works for someone standing on a jobsite, not sitting at a desk: bad signal, offline gaps, gloves on
• Integrate with Sledge's backend and APIs
• Work with design and QA to ship features that actually hold up in the field
• Ship on Sledge's weekly deployment cadence

What we're looking for

• Required: hands-on experience shipping apps to production on both iOS and Android
• Required: experience with React Native, or strong native iOS/Android experience with a willingness to work in React Native
• Comfortable building for any device type, known or new, not just a single phone screen
• Comfortable working with a real backend and APIs, not just static screens
• Comfortable building for real-world, unreliable conditions: spotty signal, offline states, and outdoor use
• Comfortable moving at startup speed, shipping weekly

Nice-to-haves

• Experience building tablet-optimized apps
• Experience with desktop app frameworks such as Electron or Tauri
• Experience building for watchOS, Wear OS, or other wearables
• Curiosity about emerging platforms like AR and smart glasses, even without direct experience, since almost no one has it yet
• Experience with TypeScript
• Experience with Supabase, PostgreSQL, or a similar backend
• Interest or experience in construction, trades, or B2B software
