Job summary

Sledge is hiring a DevOps Engineer to own the infrastructure and deployment pipeline behind Sledge's weekly ship cadence. Sledge runs on AWS, with a stack built on Next.js, Express, TypeScript, Drizzle ORM, and Supabase/PostgreSQL, plus a Python/FastAPI AI system running alongside it.

This is a hands-on, build-and-maintain role. You will set up real infrastructure, not just dashboards, and ensure deployments are reliable, scalable, and fast as the product scales.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience managing production infrastructure on AWS.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Comfortable with a Node.js/TypeScript backend and a Python backend.
• Ability to set up monitoring, logging, and alerting from scratch.
• Comfortable working at startup speed and supporting weekly deployments.
• Experience handling on-call paging and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve Sledge's CI/CD pipeline to keep weekly shipping fast and safe.
• Manage and maintain Sledge's AWS infrastructure.
• Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting to catch issues early.
• Collaborate with engineering to keep deployments smooth across stacks.

• Manage environment configuration, secrets, and access across environments.
• Support release process and rollback plans.

About the role

Sledge is hiring a DevOps Engineer to own the infrastructure and deployment pipeline behind Sledge's weekly ship cadence. Sledge runs on AWS, with a stack built on Next.js, Express, TypeScript, Drizzle ORM, and Supabase/PostgreSQL, plus a Python/FastAPI AI system running alongside it. This role reports to Sledge's engineering team and makes sure all of it deploys reliably, scales, and doesn't fall over.This is a hands‑on, build‑and‑maintain role. Sledge needs someone who can set up real infrastructure, not just click around a dashboard.

What you’ll do

• Own and improve Sledge's CI/CD pipeline, so shipping weekly stays fast and safe
• Manage and maintain Sledge's AWS infrastructure
• Set up and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting so problems get caught before customers find them
• Work with engineering to keep deployments smooth across the Next.js/Express web stack and the Python/FastAPI AI system
• Improve reliability, uptime, and performance as Sledge's beta user base grows
• Manage environment configuration, secrets, and access across environments
• Support engineering and QA around release process and rollback plans

What we’re looking for

Must-haves

• Required: hands‑on experience managing production infrastructure on AWS
• Required: experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Comfortable working with a Node.js/TypeScript backend and a Python backend side by side
• Comfortable setting up monitoring, logging, and alerting from scratch, not just reading someone else's setup
• Comfortable moving at startup speed, supporting a weekly deployment cadence
• Comfortable being the person who gets paged when something breaks

Nice‑to‑haves

• Experience with Supabase, PostgreSQL, or Drizzle ORM
• Experience with containerization tools such as Docker
• Experience supporting AI or ML systems in production
• Interest or experience in construction, trades, or B2B software
• Experience setting up infrastructure at an early‑stage startup, not just maintaining an existing setup
