Job summary

Sledge is hiring a Data/Analytics Engineer to build the data infrastructure behind Sledge's product and business decisions: event tracking, a pipeline, a warehouse, and dashboards that actually answer questions. This role reports to Sledge's engineering team and operates inside a strict data boundary.

We seek hands-on experience with data pipelines, a production data model in PostgreSQL, and the ability to deliver actionable insights while keeping sensitive data in-house.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building data pipelines and a data warehouse from scratch.
• Experience with event tracking and product analytics tools such as GA4, Segment, PostHog.
• Strong PostgreSQL production data modeling.
• Ability to enforce a strict data boundary and prevent leakage of sensitive data.
• Ability to build dashboards and reports for non-technical users.
• Willingness to move at startup speed with evolving data volume.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain event tracking across Sledge's product.

About the role

Sledge is hiring a Data/Analytics Engineer to build the data infrastructure behind Sledge's product and business decisions: event tracking, a pipeline, a warehouse, and dashboards that actually answer questions. This role reports to Sledge's engineering team.Sledge already has a locked analytics data boundary. GA4 only ever receives categorical, hashed, non-sensitive data: action, module, surface, channel, and a hashed tenant ID. Dollars, durations, tax ID numbers, party names, and tenant identifiers never leave Sledge's own infrastructure. This role lives inside that boundary, not around it, building the internal analytics Sledge actually needs without ever leaking sensitive data externally.

What you'll do

• Set up and maintain event tracking across Sledge's product
• Build and maintain a data pipeline and warehouse for Sledge's own usage and business data
• Build dashboards and reports that help the founders and team make real decisions
• Keep GA4 and any other external analytics tool strictly inside the categorical, hashed, non-sensitive data boundary
• Keep dollars, durations, tax ID numbers, party names, and tenant identifiers inside Sledge's own infrastructure, never in an external tool
• Work with engineering to instrument new features properly as they ship
• Turn beta user behavior into insight the team can act on, not just a bigger spreadsheet

What we're looking for

Must-haves

• Required: hands-on experience building data pipelines and a data warehouse from scratch
• Required: experience with event tracking and product analytics tools, such as GA4, Segment, PostHog, or similar
• Comfortable working with a PostgreSQL database and a real production data model
• Comfortable enforcing a strict data boundary: understanding exactly what can and cannot leave a system, and never getting it wrong
• Comfortable building dashboards and reports that non-technical people can actually use
• Comfortable moving at startup speed, with limited data volume today and more coming

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Supabase, Drizzle ORM, or similar tools
• Experience with row-level security or similarly strict permission models
• Experience setting up analytics at an early-stage startup, not just maintaining an existing setup
• Interest or experience in construction, trades, or B2B software
