Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support our customers by maintaining fleets and handling on-site service calls at client locations. This role requires tenured, certified technicians to deliver expedited expertise directly to trucks and equipment.

The position involves diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on heavy-duty trucks, managing service truck inventory, and ensuring accurate documentation in the mobile system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by the FMVSS.
• Mechanical aptitude and technical ability are essential.
• Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, & ASE certifications are preferred & rewarded.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Perform basic maintenance of trucks (fuel, oil, cleaning, inspections).
• Manage inventory control on the service truck and parts.
• Report to the Service Manager and handle daily duties.
• Be available for after-hours service calls and flexible schedules.
• Diagnose and repair using diagnostic equipment and technical information.
• Diagnose and replace components including injectors, pistons, bearings, heads, clutches, transmissions, and other parts.
• Complete documentation in the company computer system.
• Inspect safety devices and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lubricate moving parts and verify repairs meet specifications.
• Perform preventative maintenance as requested.
• Document and submit paperwork accurately in the mobile service program.
• Communicate with customers regarding work performed and recommendations.
• Advise on repairs to be performed in the next 3 months.
• Participate in training and apply it on the job.
