Job summary

Rush Truck Centers in Columbus, OH seeks an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to maintain client fleets and respond to service calls at customer locations. You will manage on-site maintenance, inventory for service trucks, and everyday diagnostics using equipment and manuals provided by the company.

The role requires at least 5 years of Class 7/8 dealer experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a strong mechanical/technical skillset.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by FMVSS.
• Mechanical aptitude and technical ability are essential.
• Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, & ASE certifications are preferred and rewarded.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Handle basic maintenance of the truck including fueling, oil checks, cleanliness, and inspections.
• Manage inventory control on the service truck and for the vehicle.
• Report to the Service Manager and be assigned daily duties.
• Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and an open work schedule.
• Maintain and inventory the supplied tools for the work.
• Read job orders, observe vehicle operation, and plan work procedures.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment and information to determine repair procedures.
• Diagnose, remove, and replace components such as injectors, pistons, liners, and bearings.
• Perform diagnostic and documentation tasks in the company system.
• Inspect safety devices and tighten loose parts, lubricate moving parts, and verify conformance.
• Document and submit paperwork or enter into mobile service program.
• Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive relations.
• Advise customers on repairs to be performed within the next 3 months.
• Participate in training and apply it on the job.
