Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to service and maintain fleets at customer locations across our network. You will handle on-site diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs to ensure trucks and equipment stay in peak condition.

The role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, ability to read job orders, and use diagnostic tools. CDL preferred but not required; after-hours availability and a safety-first mindset are valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1-2 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by FMVSS.
• Mechanical aptitude and technical ability is a must.
• Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins & ASE certifications are preferred & rewarded.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Handle basic maintenance of the truck including fueling, oil checks, cleaning, and ensuring inspections are performed and documented.
• Manage inventory control on the service truck and for keeping the vehicle properly stocked.
• Report to the Service Manager and be assigned daily duties.
• Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and open work schedule.
• Read job orders and observe vehicle operation to determine malfunction and plan procedures.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment to determine malfunction and perform correct repair procedure.
• Diagnose and replace major components as needed.
• Document all work in the company computer system and customer communications.
