Job summary

Rush Truck Centers in the United States seeks an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support customers by maintaining fleets and handling on-site service calls. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and replacing components on diesel trucks, with after-hours availability and a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.

Technicians will manage truck service, inventory, and documentation, while leveraging training and certifications to ensure high-quality repairs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
  • Current CDL preferred but not required.
  • Medical card as required by the FMVS.
  • Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, & ASE certifications are preferred & rewarded

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
  • Handle basic maintenance of the truck including fueling, oil checks, cleaning, and ensuring inspections are performed.
  • Manage inventory control on the service truck and for keeping the vehicle properly stocked.
  • Report to the Service Manager and be assigned duties daily.
  • Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and an open work schedule.
  • Read job orders and diagnose using diagnostic equipment to determine procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic and document work in the company system.
  • Inspect safety devices and tighten/adjust as needed.
  • Lube moving parts and verify repairs meet specifications.
  • Document and submit paperwork promptly in the mobile service program.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive relations.
  • Advise customers on repairs needed within the next 3 months.
  • Participate in training and apply it on the job.
