Job summary

Cox Fleet is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II to perform DOT inspections, PMs, and light-to-medium repairs in a mobile/field setting. You will diagnose electrical, braking, cooling and engine systems, document RO findings, and ensure safety and compliance with DOT regulations.

The role requires HS diploma or equivalent, ASE T8 within 18 months, and a valid DOT medical card. A valid driver’s license and ability to work independently in a mobile fleet environment are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline; or 5 years' experience in a related field.
• Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
• Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within eighteen (18) months.
• This position follows DOT/FMCSA regulations. Candidate must pass a DOT-regulated background screening and DOT physical.
• A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining may be submitted in leu of a DOT physical.
• Must be at least 21 years or older due to interstate operating authority.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain/maintain DQF.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment including electrical, braking, cooling, fuel, engine and transmission systems.
• Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment using test instruments and perform road tests to verify proper operation.
• Document findings, parts used, and RO details via iOS device using TRAIT application.
• Maintain safety checks, pre-/post-trip inspections, and manage daily schedule independently.
