Job summary

Cox Fleet, a Cox Automotive unit based in Indianapolis, is hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician II. The role focuses on licensed DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, and light-to-heavy duty repairs in a mobile/field setting.

The technician will diagnose electrical, hydraulic, braking and engine systems, perform parts management, and document work via TRAIT on an iOS device, while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field, or 5 years’ experience in a related field.
• ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) certification.
• A current and valid DOT medical card or equivalent documentation within the required validity period.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair electrical, braking, cooling, fuel, and engine systems in diesel trucks.
• Document work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using iOS device and TRAIT app.
• Obtain parts from approved vendors and manage inventory on the service truck.
• Communicate with management to obtain approvals on estimates and discuss RO findings.
• Maintain safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections of the service vehicle.
