Job summary

Ziegler CAT in Altoona is seeking a Field Service Diesel Technician to support customers with heavy construction equipment. A company truck is provided, and the role requires diagnosing and repairing CAT machinery in the field, with after-hours support as needed.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of diesel repair experience, a 2-year diesel tech degree or equivalent, and strong communication skills. Benefits include health/dental/vision, PTO, holidays, 401(k) match, HSA and more.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or equivalent.
• 3+ years of diesel repair experience, preferably field-based.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, engines, electrical and fuel systems; CAT experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to document work orders.
• Own tool set and commitment to a safe, clean work environment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment including heavy machinery.
• Utilize independent judgment to repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, diesel and electrical systems.
• Work safely following company policies and standards.
• Respond to customer needs promptly to maximize value of work.
• Available for after-hours emergency calls as directed by supervisor.
• Collaborate with other technicians on troubleshooting and repairs.
• Document work orders completely and timely for high customer satisfaction.
