Job summary

Ziegler Inc. in Fergus Falls, MN is seeking a full-time, experienced Field Service Technician to service heavy diesel, truck, construction and agricultural equipment. You will diagnose and repair CAT machinery, respond to customer needs promptly, and maintain safety and documentation at job sites.

Requires 5+ years of diesel repair experience and a technical degree or diploma. CDL and DOT certs preferred. Competitive benefits provided, including health, PTO, and 401(k).

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree or high school diploma with several years of mechanic experience.
• 5+ years of diesel equipment repair experience, preferably field work.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, electrical and fuel systems.
• Experience with CAT equipment; other brands a plus but not required.
• Ability to diagnose equipment without supervision and read schematics.
• Strong customer service, attention to detail and good communication.
• Own tool set and clean driving record; Class A CDL or willingness to obtain; DOT certs.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment including tractors, loaders, excavators and other heavy machinery.
• Respond to customer needs promptly; a company truck is provided.
• Safely maintain and repair complex equipment with mechanical, hydraulic, gas, diesel and electrical systems.
• Keep a clean, safe work area and service vehicle in good condition.
• Communicate job status with supervisor and complete work orders daily.
• Assist other technicians with troubleshooting as needed.
• Identify parts for inventory and respond to after-hours emergency calls as directed.
