Job summary

Ziegler CAT in Altoona, IA is hiring a Diesel Technician to diagnose and repair Caterpillar heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders and dozers. The role requires a diesel tech degree or 2 years of related experience, plus reliable work habits.

Work hours are Mon-Fri 7am-3:30pm with occasional overtime; comprehensive benefits include health, dental, vision, life, PTO, 401(k) with match, HSA and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or High school diploma/GED with 2 years experience.
• 2+ years of relevant diesel engine/equipment repair experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, electrical, and fuel systems.
• Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers and team members.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs Caterpillar equipment including heavy construction equipment.
• Documents work orders to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Work safely following policies, procedures and standards.
• Collaborate with other technicians on troubleshooting repairs.
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills.
