Job summary

Ziegler CAT is hiring a full-time, experienced Field Service Technician to service CAT heavy equipment, power generation, and agricultural gear across Iowa. You will diagnose and repair machines at customer sites, using autonomous judgment while maintaining a clean, safe work area and vehicle.

A CDL and tool set are expected, with strong troubleshooting skills and customer focus. The role offers competitive pay and benefits; safety-sensitive position with pre-employment drug testing.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree or high school diploma and several years of comparable mechanic experience.
• 5+ years of relevant diesel equipment repair experience, preferably some field experience.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, electrical, and fuel systems; CAT equipment and other AG gear experience is a plus.
• Ability to diagnose all equipment without supervision and read/understand schematics.
• Own mechanic tool set and a clean driving record; Class A CDL or willingness to obtain one.
• Willing to respond to after-hour emergency calls as directed by supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs Caterpillar equipment including heavy construction and agricultural machinery in the field.
• Responds to customer needs in a positive, timely manner; company vehicle provided.
• Diagnose complex systems (mechanical, hydraulic, gas, diesel, electrical) with independent judgment.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and service vehicle in good condition.
• Communicate job status with supervisor and complete work orders accurately.
