Job summary

Rush Truck Centers in the United States seeks an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to service client fleets at their locations. You will handle diagnostic work, on-site maintenance and timely repairs with front-line customer communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or truck service facility.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by FMVSS.
• Mechanical aptitude and technical ability are essential.
• Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins and ASE certifications are preferred and rewarded.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Perform basic maintenance and inspections on trucks and equipment.
• Manage inventory on the service truck and keep vehicle stocked.
• Report to the Service Manager and follow daily duties.
• Be available for after-hours service calls and flexible schedule.
• Maintain and inventory tools required for diesel maintenance.
• Read job orders and plan work procedures from vehicle observations.
• Use diagnostic equipment to determine malfunctions and perform repairs.
• Diagnose and replace parts such as injectors, pistons, heads, bearings, clutches, brakes and transmissions.
• Document all service in the company computer system and complete paperwork.
• Ensure safety devices and guards are checked and adjusted.
• Lubricate moving parts and verify repairs meet specs.
• Complete preventative maintenance and related tasks.
• Communicate with customers regarding work and recommendations.
• Advise on repairs expected in the next 3 months.
• Participate in ongoing training and apply learnings.
