Job summary

The Guidance Center (TGC) seeks a Mobile Peer Support Specialist to provide mobile crisis and outreach services across Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson Counties. This role focuses on de-escalation, rapport building, and rapid response to crises in the community, with duties performed in collaboration with a two-person team.

The MPSS role requires experience with crisis intervention, HIPAA compliance, and a strengths-based approach to support individuals managing psychiatric symptoms, with

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: Some post-high school education in Human Services.
• Must self-identify as a former consumer of behavioral healthcare services and have lived experience.
• No psychiatric hospital admissions for at least one year.

Responsibilities

• Respond across Leavenworth, Atchison and Jefferson County as part of a 2-person team to provide mobile crisis interventions (on-site within 1 hour).
• Engage individuals in crisis, build rapport, assess motivation, and encourage service participation.
• Use a strengths-based perspective to identify needs and resources.
