Job summary

The Guidance Center in Leavenworth, KS is hiring a part-time Mental Health Technician to work with an interdisciplinary team. The mobile crisis unit operates across Leavenworth, Atchison and Jefferson counties in a 2-person team, including weekend and evening shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Associate of Arts / Science degree or two years of equivalent education/experience working in the human services field.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-1 supportive care based on client’s needs, including hygiene, nutrition, and medication, while maintaining appropriate documentation.
• Act as a resource to client for activities to facilitate increased stability in functioning.
• Initiate de-escalation procedures when appropriate, consistent with MANDT and Mental Health First Aid procedures.
• Provide accurate and relevant feedback to providers to ensure optimum patient care.
• Participate in daily treatment team meetings.
• Maintain unit through regular housekeeping duties.
• Respond across Leavenworth, Atchison and Jefferson County as part of a 2-person team, providing mobile crisis interventions to a variety of individuals in crisis.
• Engage individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis by building rapport, assessing motivation, and encouraging participation in services.
• Use a Strengths Based perspective to assess individuals' circumstances to identify needs and/or determine resource eligibility.

Education

Associate of Arts / Science degree
